Dreamy Cream Sauce
A creamy white sauce should be a staple in every family. It’s simple enough for kids to enjoy it, but packed with nutrients thanks to the cashews and nutritional yeast. Plus, it’s incredibly versatile. Enjoy this over pasta, on steamed veggies, or even dunk whole grain breadsticks in it. The possibilities are endless!
Ingredients
Scale
1 1/4 cup water
1/2 cup cashews (soaked in water overnight and drained)
2 tsp olive oil
1/4 tsp garlic powder
1 tsp corn starch
2 tsp nutritional yeast
1/4 tsp salt
1/8 tsp black pepper
Instructions
- Add all ingredients to a blender and blend until smooth.
- Transfer mixture to a small sauce pan over high heat.
- Whisk continuously until thickened.
- Serve!
Notes
Cashews will blend more easily if they are soaked. To speed up the process, you may instead soak them in boiling water for 10 minutes, then drain and use. This step can be skipped if you are using a powerful blender.
